The science team and clinicians at Blamey Saunders hears have developed a new test of hearing. It’s designed to give people an insight into what speechsounds they can and can’t hear. Everyone in audiology and hearing science is aware of the inadequacies of the Pure Tone audiogram. All that tells you is how softly you can hear beep sounds in a specially quiet room. From there the tester has to try and explain why you are having trouble hearing. The pure tone audiograms role is to be the first part of trying to find out the medical cause of your hearing difficulty. The Infogram that is generated is easier and more realistic to show you what speech sounds can and can’t be heard.
My goal is to help as many people as possible to enjoy communication, so we decided to put the test out in the public domain for anyone to use. People can print their results and take them where ever they like.
The more we do with this test, the more excited we are about its potential use in the field of hearing. It’s been a good year. at Blamey Saunders hears. It feels like a lifetime’s work is coming together.
