Farmers are especially susceptible to hearing loss

Hearing loss often sneaks up on people – especially people in rural areas who’ve been exposed to the sound of gunfire, tractors and other farming machinery noise. It only takes a one off exposure to dangerously loud noise to incur lasting damage.

Most rural workers over 50 have hearing difficulties, and many don’t realise that untreated hearing difficulties lead to severe psychological problems, such as depression and early onset dementia.
