What are ear tips

What are hearing aid “ear tips”?

This is a common question asked by new hearing aid users. So what are those little white domes?

Ear tips are soft silicon domes that fit over the hearing aid speaker. The primary purpose of an ear tip is to hold the hearing aid speaker comfortably and securely in the ear canal. Some people do not use ear tips, preferring to leave the speaker or tube tip entirely open in the ear canal.

A secondary effect of ear tips is to increase the volume of sound at the ear drum. This is particularly the case for the largest size, called a tulip. It boosts volume from the speaker (mainly the bass) by partially occluding the ear canal, which stops sound bouncing out.

We provide a free variety pack with our hearing aids, so that you can try them out and decide for yourself. Clients can order refill packs anytime from our online hearing store.

To use our ear tips, choose a comfortable size and place it firmly over the speaker.
