Hearing aid distortion

If you have a really good hearing aid that keeps sound linear, but in your sweet spot of hearing (e.g. ours), you probably won’t ever experience distortion, because the hearing aids are making sure that the sound will stay in your “best” range. However with most hearing aids some people find that the extra sensory deficits that hearing loss impose cause some extra problems. Hearing loss doesn’t just mean that sounds get softer. If it did, then hearing aids could be simple amplifiers. What actually happens is that hearing loss often causes the ear to make sounds distort. That’s why there is still so much research going on in hearing aids. Hearing loss does not simply mean that sounds get softer. It also turns out, not surprisingly, that measuring your ability to hear soft beeps in a padded room is not a very good way to predict how much you will like your hearing aid, or which hearing aid you should choose. It turns out to be a rather poor test actually. Have a look at our “My Hearing Plan” and choose the best path.  The choose a hearing aid that you can customise to your preferences.
