Cotton buds and ear cleaning

Well, I guess you all know not to use cotton buds to clean your ears, but I’ll bet you do anyway.

Now apart from the horror stories of someone opening the bathroom door at a critical moment, so that your elbow is nudged and “Oh, the pain” when the eardrum ruptures, there are some minor reasons not to do this too.

1. Taking a cotton bud along the ear canal is a bit like combing your shin.  The ear canal is proportionately very sensitive.

2.  Sometimes the end of the cotton bud comes off, and is then left in the ear canal until you get your doctor to remove it.

So, just use a tissue on the tip of your finger, or something like that.
